I love Games. For me to say that I like one particular game
than the other, I'd be lying. I like everything from Magic the Gathering and
Dungeons and Dragons to Call of Duty and Zelda.
I'm in love with books. I'm a FREAK about them. Any type
will do. I love horror, fantasy, fiction, non-fiction...Reading is fun to me.
^_^ the feel, the pages, and even the smell of books excite me. Kindle ain't
got shit on a good ole book.
I love watching Mr. Bean, The IT crowd, and Monty Python. In
a nutshell, it would take me forever and a day to list everything that I'm
actually into.
With that being said, when I was growing up - I was the odd
one out. I was the Goth chic that was in love with all the "nerdy"
things. Now all of a sudden it's cool to wear glasses and like science? I wish
that those things applied when I was in school. I totally would have been the
cooler kid.
I'm not trying to hate. Everyone has the right to be their
own person. But I went into Hot Topic a month ago and saw rainbow suspenders,
fake bow ties and Doctor Who everywhere.
It made me feel like all of the things that I always held so
dear to me have been taken for granted by the newer generation. I miss when Hot
Topic was for punk or Gothic people. Seeing Justin Beiber plastered all over
the walls along with my little pony is embarrassing.
In the gaming world - technology has never been more
realistic and amazing. I can understand how anyone would want to get in on
that. But there is more to gaming then just shooting and bombing people.
Granted - I love me some Cod-Blops ^_^ but for realsies - RPGs such as Chrono
Cross and Star Ocean don't get any play anymore.
Sony, Windows, and Nintendo are marketing to the masses now
and those masses want shoot-em-ups. I haven't seen a GOOD rpg in forever...(Bayonetta
was amazing, but the second one is coming out on Wii-U?! Whatevs. I don't want
to buy a whole other system just the play the sequel)
At least playing video games is more common and more accepted
now. I remember trying not to tell people that I played video games. They would
look at me and think I was a slacker or a total shut in.
The Big Bang Theory I think sparked the evolution of people’s
minds. (HA! - see what I did there?) This show along with the new Dr.Who and
the remakes of Star Trek (which I will not accept - that's a different story), have
pushed the notion that being a nerd is cool.
I was talking to one of my girlfriends the other day and
she's so "IN". She's a girly girl that shops at Victoria Secret and
drinks frappucinos from Starbucks. She was telling me about the episode of
Dr.Who she had watched while I sat there astonished. She paused and laughed,
saying,"I KNOW, RIGHT?! I'm such a nerd.." *giggle*
NO. NO YOU'RE NOT! lol. Watching a few episodes of Dr.Who
does not make you a nerd.
The words Geek and Nerd are thrown around so freely lately.
Again - It's embarrassing. Hopefully this will all be over soon and I won't
have to be annoyed by it.
Then I can go back to enjoying my life and my hobbies
without feeling like I’ve been classified as being “On the bandwagon”.
Important:
Troll if you want to if it makes you feel better. Disagreeing with someone is human nature. So if you disagree with me in any way - congrats - you're a human... -_- *claps for you*
